What does a Wishing Star and Charlotte’s Web have in Common?  Do I have you stumped??

Well pretty much nothing, except that I am having a 100 and 150 Followers Give Away If you can believe it I hit 150 followers on my blog the same time I hit 100 followers on my TPT store!! So I am giving away some fun things. A $25.00 Walmart gift card.  Who can’t find something they need at Walmart. A fabulous Wishing Star necklace made from fine silver (a $59.00 value) and it can be stamped with your name initials or a special date on the back,

Now for Charlotte’s Web.  Every year all the Second Grade Teachers Read Charlotte’s Web. This has been a tradition for as long as there has been a South Adams School. Well, maybe not quite that long but as long as I can remember and way before I ever taught Second Grade. We do many fun activities along the way and then the whole grade (around 100 students) watches the movie together.

Have you ever heard or seen the famous Robert Sabuda’s pop up books in all white?? He has a really cool website with pop ups you can print and make.  I have done the pig for years and now he has added a spider which is so cute for Charlotte. Above are sample photos of what the kids in my class made.  I will tell you I enlarged the pig a little because the one he has is very small and was hard for my Second Graders to do.  I suggest making one ahead of time so you can see the steps.  I have to help students a little but they also help each other.  It really is a fun thing to make and the student are so excited to take home their own Wilbur and Charlotte.  Right now I have Wilbur’s hanging on our bulletin board and Charlotte’s on top of our lockers.  We are going to write about which character is our favorite but we are still finishing the book and will do that when we are finished.

There are many other pop up’s you can make too.  You will have to check it out and see what you can use in your classroom.  Now I’m going to head home from school finally. After all it is Friday night and almost 6:00. (But don’t feel to bad for me I am waiting on my kids to finish sports practice.)
