While going through photos at the end of the year I was excited to find some of the cutest selflies on my student’s iPads. Students love to take photos of themselves and there are so many endless ways you can use these fun photos in the classroom. I want to start the year off teaching students how to correctly use the camera because we will use it for so many projects in our classroom. I created our first digital writing lesson that will take small steps to make a digital book using the free app Book Creator. They will then publish their book to the free iBooks app so they can share with the class.
Students will take selfies with suggestions given to them on a photo grid. Grids include ideas for the classroom, playground and around the school. They will then write sentences, make a digital book, grade the book, then share it. Step by step videos help students follow along with their iPads to make their digital book.
Also included in the unit are half page cards that can be used as a Writing Station or Center for many weeks. Students can chose from 8 different grids to make 100’s of different books.
Here is everything included in Sefie Snaps my first iPad Mini Unit.
I will be giving one unit away to a lucky follower. Please comment below one thing you are looking forward to doing this school year with your email to win a Selfie Snap Unit. I will pick a winner next Wednesday.
I also made a one day iPad lesson FREEBIE This lesson uses the free apps ZooKazam and Educreations. If you have never tried anything with augmented reality you are definitely going to want to check this out.
Click the photo below to download your freebie.
Here’s what the video looks like for the lesson. The link is also included in the download.

This FREEBIE is FANTASTIC!!!!!!! I love it and truly can't wait to use it with my second graders this year! Thank you so much for creating this and sharing it with us. I really appreciate it! This year, I plant to incorporate different lessons using my 3 iPads rather than simply letting them play different apps during literacy and math centers. Once again, I am very grateful!

That animal app is AMAZING! It's a tad advanced for my little ones to use, but I just sent the info to our 2nd grade teachers…they do animal reports and this will be perfect!!
