Do you teach parts of speech to your class ? Last week we created a digital projects using 2 FREE apps and I can’t wait to share it with you. All you need to do this project is an iPad with the apps Pic Collage or Pic Collage EDU and Lively and a piece of paper. I love this project because not only does it help students understand action verbs better but they will also be moving and creating. What is more exciting than that?
STEP ONE:
First of all students need to decide on the 4 verbs they will use to create their actions. They can write these on a piece of paper.
STEP TWO:
Next they will partner up and take 4 photos of each other doing the action they wrote down. Since we are one to one iPads this works with groups of two but if you are not just have students work in a small group. Student will take the photos in the LIVE mode on the iPad camera. Make sure the icon is yellow and then you are in LIVE mode. (See photo above.) Another thing to note is just tap the button once. Do not hold it down or it will not be a live photo.
STEP THREE:
After the photos are taken students are ready to load them into the app Lively. This is a Free app that can turn LIVE Photos into GIFs. Turn each photo into GIFs by following the steps. When you open the app make sure you allow access to photos.
STEP FOUR:
First you need to tap the photo you want to make into a GIF. Then Tap Export GIF. Then tap save and it is now on your camera roll. Tap Camera roll again and repeat with your other four photos. Now you have 4 GIFS on your camera roll to add to Pic Collage.
STEP FIVE:
Last you need to head to the app Pic Collage and load the photos and type sentences for each one.
STEP SIX:
Finally save the finished project to your camera roll and load to See Saw or Class Dojo to share with others or turn in as classwork. If you would like a rubric and recording sheet to go with the project you can check them out here in my Teachers Pay Teacher Store. They are not necessary but a nice accessory to help with grading.
