Bring Math Manipulatives to Life with Talking Apps

Bring Math Manipulatives to Life with Talking Apps 1
It’s another BE APPY Monday.  We love using apps to create in my classroom. Students had fun bringing math manipulatives to life with these “Talking Apps.” Most of you have probably heard of this app but hopefully you will get some new ideas on how students can use them to bring math to life.

Students love using the talking apps like  Chatterpix Kids.  Use this app to make videos to start your math units of study on place value, money, and geometric shapes. This helps students get a better grasp on the concepts as they are learning as they are researching and creating their videos.

When studying money we also used this book called Let’s Find Out About Money. Another fun books is called Money Madness which talks about how money originated. We read and discussed the book and then watched this You Tube video that goes along great with the books The Birth of a Coin from the United States Mint Website for Kids.

Students were given templates to fill out to use as their scripts when recording their videos. You can find the templates in my new set below.
